Tie- In

Both Carr and Parker-Pope talk of technology as being a distraction and an interference with peoples lives. The Carr article mentions that technology affects adults also. The internet is becoming a universal medium, the conduit for most of the information that flows through peoples eyes and ears. Technology, is so distractful that when we read online we tend to just decode the information and not read all of it. Since many books are online, there is no need for us to read them. Instead we just go online and look at the summary. The Web, as described by Carr and Parker-Pope, makes it diffucult for us to read long passages becasue of all the pop ups that are up online. We spend so much time using technology that it distracts us from our family and friends. Author Tara Parker-Pope says that technology is an essential part of our everyday life. According to Pope, because of the use of technology, people are becoming impatitent and forgetful. In the Carr article, he states that he use to dive deep into reading and pull out information, but now he just skims readings and pulls out information with out even reading it. I believe that both authors do a great job in stating the dangers of technology. Web sites make it easier to get research because their is no need to read books and long passages.
