When people think about a college student’s diet they typically assume: pizza, fast food, and burgers. At Rowan University, we have a wide variety of choices. We have a surplus of unique restaurants including Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Mexican, and even barbeque. The key to expanding you pallet is trying new things.
Have you even tried sushi or hibachi? If the answer is no then you have to check out Samurai Japanese Hibachi on Delsea Drive. They have an amazing sushi bar and very entertaining hibachi, and they accept Boro Bucks! Samurai has a BYOB (bring your own ‘booze’) policy and has enough room for larger groups of people. If you want a smaller, more romantic place to get some delicious sushi, you can always try Tomo Sushi Japanese Restaurant also located on Delsea Drive. Tomo is a smaller restaurant more appropriate for a small group or date, and they also accept Boro bucks.
If sushi isn’t your thing, Glassboro has an abundance of Chinese Food restaurants and take-out places. Number One Chinese Restaurant is located on Delsea Drive and has been rated a great place to order from. This is a small place with not a lot of seating. If you love to eat a lot, Peking Buffet on Delsea Drive is the place for you! This buffet has all of the Chinese food staples, a salad bar, sushi, and even a dessert section. Personally, I eat here at least once a month and I think the food is great! This is a great place to sit down and enjoy some Chinese food with your friends. The Chinese restaurant that you can always spot Rowan Students in is Hunan Wok. Located on Mullica Hill Road, it is a very easy location for students to walk to if they do not have a car. Hunan also accepts Boro bucks and has three or four tables to sit down and eat. Tokyo Mandarin is an actual Chinese Restaurant. This is somewhere you can go inside, sit down, and enjoy the Chinese restaurant’s food, service, and atmosphere.
If you want more choices then Chinese and Japanese you are in luck! La Quarsine is a Vietnamese Restaurant on Delsea Drive. This restaurant has been noted for its exceptional service and delicious Thai food. Still not satisfied? Try La China Poblana Restaurant on Delsea Drive for some authentic Mexican cooking. This place had some bad reviews in the past, but has recently come under new ownership and it is worth a shot. The food is all prepared fresh.
If unique food isn’t really your thing you can always depend on some good ol’ fashioned barbeque or wings. Bomb Bomb BBQ Grill located on High Street has a great selection of barbecue food. This place is known for having excellent barbecue sandwiches. Landmark Americana is one of the most popular places to eat if you are a Rowan student. Landmark can be a little expensive but the food is exceptional. There is also a bar and a club located inside if you are of age. Landmark has a wide variety of food but it best known for their wings, especially during Happy Hour!
There are so many places to eat in Glassboro, but you shouldn’t just limit yourself to the typical college diet. Get out there and try something new! According to the Rowan University webpage, the Rowan card is accepted at the following eateries surrounding the university: Nick’s Pizzeria, Ming Lok, Hunan Wok, Ciconte’s Pizzeria, Papa John’s Pizza, La China Poblano, Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Little Beef’s, Checkers, Saladworks, Esgro’s Deli, Friendly’s, Samurai Japanese Steakhouse, Bomb Bomb BBQ, and Burger King. Whether you have a car or not, all of the places mentioned are close by! If you really don’t feel like walking, Safe Walk and Ride will take you anywhere within two miles of campus. College is the time to experiment with your pallet and try new foods. You never know if you like it or not until you try it!
