As a college student you encounter many challenges. One that I have always struggled with is what and where to eat? Specifically is what I eat so that I do not gain weight and break my pocket! There are many convenient places that offer decent prices around campus; unfortunately, most of these places are fast food restaurants. After you eat at these places you feel sluggish, guilty, your tummy often hurts, and you end up gaining a lot of weight. The key is to have a plan, know your surroundings and know the nutritional value of the food that is going in your mouth. I am here to help! I will share with you what I have discovered to be the secret to eating well and staying healthy while attending Rowan University, sushi.
A few years ago, I discovered the joy of eating sushi. I started out with the classic California roll, which has no raw elements to it and slowly moved to the raw fish. Some people love sushi the first time they try it and for others it is an acquired taste, like beer, except healthy and delicious. I knew that it had to be healthy because I never felt bloated after eating it and always seemed to have tons of energy afterwards. Still I was in shock when I did some research and found out how healthy it really is!
I went to several websites and found that whatscookingamerica.net was the most accurate and helpful. They claim that sushi is very nutritious and healthy. After finding out the nutritional value of some sushi items, I was so excited to confirm that the food I have been enjoying for years actually is good for me. I could not wait to share this with everyone I know. Of course, like anything else, you have to be very careful of what you order and how much extra sauces you might add to it. Some of the most popular sushi items, such as rolls, can be very healthy. For example, the very popular spicy tuna roll has only twenty six grams of carbohydrates, eleven grams of fat and two hundred and ninety calories. This is based on one roll that has six or seven pieces. A roll and a salad would be plenty of food for the average person for lunch. If you are not into raw fish, the spicy tuna roll is a great item to start with because the sauce used to make it spicy plus the rice makes it so that you can’t feel the raw texture. But if you really can’t stand the idea of raw fish then you’ll be glad to hear that a California roll is just as healthy. The California roll has crab, avocado, and cucumber in it. One roll contains thirty eight grams of carbohydrates, seven grams of fat, and two hundred and fifty calories. Those of you who love sushi already will be happy to know that the more raw the healthier! Nigiri sushi, which is raw fish on top of a small bed of rice can have as little as eight grams of carbohydrates, point three grams of fat and forty one calories per piece. We all know the food pyramid pretty well and know that we need six to eleven servings of grains, which you would cover with the rice in sushi. Another important part of the pyramid is the proteins which we get from the fish, now add a salad to your sushi and we have a well balanced healthy meal!
Now we know that sushi is healthy, nutritious, and delicious but where in Glassboro could we find a good cheap sushi restaurant? There are two great sushi restaurants in Glassboro, near Rowan. The first one is Tomo sushi located at 806 North Delsea drive. They offer great specials including an all you can eat buffet for twenty dollars. According to multiple reviews on yelp.com Tomo seems to please everyone with the freshness and excellent quality of their sushi. People love the service too, which is always a plus. The other great sushi restaurant in Glassboro is called Samurai Hibachi Steak House and Sushi located at 646 North Delsea drive. I personally frequent this one and love it. I have tried sushi in many different places from Hawaii to Los Angeles to NYC and this place has good sushi. It is always fresh and the prices are excellent. They open for lunch from eleven thirty in the morning to three in the afternoon then close for an hour and a half and reopen for dinner. They have unbelievable lunch specials. For seven dollars you can get two rolls and for ten you can get three rolls. They have rolls named after Rowan and Glassboro. Samurai works together with Rowan and they accept boro bucks. I have always had a pleasant experience here and would highly recommend it!

Samuri does a $20 all you can eat sushi deal on Sundays and Tuesdays I think , and their sushi is amazing. I eat there at least once a week with my friends! The hibachi there is also really good if sushi isn't your thing.
